LIBERTY MUSEUM Mission Statement Our mission is to preserve and transform the former Liberty Theatre Bldg. (1920-21) into an area museum by showcasing the once thriving coal mining industry of Nanty-Glo, Blacklick, Jackson Townships, and Vintondale. We will inform visitors about the areas' varied ethnic cultures, the very limited economic - social status of mining families. To do this, we will highlight historical photographs, artifacts and private collections. Also, with the use of various media (video, newspapers, books and oral testimonies) we will educate visitors of our areas proud family life, faith and heroes. Our goal, through all of this, is to help area and non area museum visitors find a connection between their lives and the lives of struggling mining families during the 1920-1940’s, one not fully understood or appreciated by today’s general public. by John Dropcho
